Perpetually sick

Two months ago I got a yeast infection. Tried treating it on my own and it died down for about two weeks. Had to get a prescription for it. By the end of the month I was good again. Or so I thought.

I’ve had a UTI once before, but that was like six years ago. Its kinda hurt to pee the last two days, but like a relieving hurt. This morning I thought I saw some blood in my urine, but had already flushed it. So my ride to work I didn’t feel great, and when I get there the first thing I do is go pee. Blood. So I tell my boss. He says go get your self taken care of. An hour and a half of waiting at quick care, and a lovely brownish urine sample, and they tell me, I do indeed, have another UTI and a pretty hardcore one at that. They’re actually giving me an antibiotic shot before I leave, and then the regular medication that turns your pee florescent orange.

’Do you ever wonder whether people would like you more or less if they could see inside you? …I always wonder about that. If people could see me the way I see myself—if they could live in my memories—would anyone, anyone, love me?” - John Green

Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book. And then there are books like An Imperial Affliction, which you can’t tell people about, books so special and rare and yours that advertising your affection feels like betrayal.
